Chapter Info
ALDA Southern Maine, a branch of the national Association of Late-Deafened Adults (ALDA), was founded in late 2024. We are just starting to get off the ground and are filled with enthusiasm and innovative ideas for socializing and advocating for equal access in a hearing-dominant world. This year, we aim to populate our calendars with monthly gatherings, both in-person and online.
As an all-volunteer nonprofit, ALDA supports its chapters and groups across the United States and Canada while maintaining an international presence as a member of the International Federation of Hard of Hearing People (IFHOH). We welcome all adults who share our dedication to addressing the common needs of individuals with hearing loss, regardless of its source, degree, or communication methods, whether they are late-deafened or not. We encourage the use of CART and ASL to enhance communication accessibility whenever we can. Positive mentoring can play a crucial role in helping us achieve our goals related to health, family, and career!
ALDAcon, the annual convention organized by ALDA, is held in various cities across the country each Fall. In 2025, we will gather in Denver, CO!
ALDA Southern Maine embraces ALDA’s approach to communication, connection, and collaboration through “Whatever Works.” We invite you to join us!
